Developer Selected for Phase II Housing at Devens
February 10, 2004

Devens, Massachusetts. MassDevelopment officials announced today the selection of Pulte Homes of New England, LLC to develop the second phase of housing at Devens. Chosen from a group of three finalists, their proposal includes the construction of 176 new homes (106 single-family, 42 duplex and 28 townhouse) on the former Grant Road housing site at Devens. Twenty-five percent of the units will be offered as affordable homes with 10% of these units available to buyers earning an income of 80% or below the area median income and 15% of the buyers earning 80% to 120% of the area median income. In addition, Pulte's plan includes the creation of a Common Green overlooking the Nashua River and a series of pedestrian trails linking the 'Oxbow Village' neighborhood to the new Devens Common development and preexisting recreational trails.

"We selected Pulte Homes based on the quality of their proposal, their proven experience at handling projects of this nature, and the basic economics of the deal," explained David T. Slatery, MassDevelopment Interim Executive Director. "We look forward to working with the Pulte team to bring more residential housing to the Devens community."

Named Professional Builder Magazine's "2002 Builder of the Year", Pulte Homes Corporation brings 52 years experience to the 'Oxbow Village' project at Devens. The company currently ranks 250 on the 2003 Fortune 500 list, and has more than 20 residential communities in various stages of development in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

"We are excited to bring a quality Pulte Homes residential development to Devens," said Mark Comeau, Pulte Homes Senior Land Acquisition Manager. "For us this is a special project given the admirable history of the Army base, the community's proximity to the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge and surrounding natural resources, along with our own promise to develop Oxbow Village with the principles of sustainable development in mind."
