MassDevelopment today announced the sale of lot 6-C at Devens to Barnum Realty, LLC. Barnum Realty is a consortium of Dunkin' Donuts franchise owners, partnering to construct a 22,000 square foot central kitchen to produce baked goods for approximately 100 area stores. The project will result in the creation of 100 new manufacturing jobs. Lot 6-C is located on Barnum Road next to the N.B. Kenney construction site.

"This is great news for the north central region," said Robert Culver, MassDevelopment president/CEO. "This project demonstrates the power of partnership, and the positive impact cooperation can have in terms of job growth and business development. We're very pleased Barnum Realty, LLC has decided to do business at Devens.

Barnum Realty will break ground for the facility this month, and plans to begin operating in January 2006. The central kitchen facility will also enable individual franchise owners to expand retail operations by adding new food offerings in space formerly occupied by ovens and other baking equipment.

"Devens' central location, fast-track permitting process and proximity to major rail and transit lines convinced us that it was the best location for our new facility," said Steven Catalano, Managing Member, Barnum Realty, LLC. "We look forward to opening our new kitchen, and to begin taking advantage of the many amenities Devens has to offer."

MassDevelopment, the state's finance and development authority, partners with businesses and local officials to stimulate growth across the Commonwealth. In fiscal year 2004, the agency arranged financing for or managed 201 projects statewide totaling more than $1.25 billion. These projects supported the creation of more than 5,500 jobs and 2,445 housing starts.
