MassDevelopment today announced a $2,468,780 financing package for Dartmouth Building Supply (DBS). DBS will use a tax-exempt bond to construct a 54,600 square foot manufacturing facility located at 958 Reed Road in Dartmouth. The project will result in the creation of 30 new manufacturing jobs.

"We are pleased to partner with Dartmouth Building Supply on this important expansion initiative," said Robert L. Culver, MassDevelopment president/CEO. "Manufacturers like DBS play an in important role in the regional economy. I'm happy MassDevelopment has been able to play a role in bringing new jobs to Dartmouth, especially jobs that continue a local tradition of skilled craftsmanship in woodworking."

Founded in 1984, Dartmouth Building Supply sells wholesale and retail lumber and construction materials to area contractors, and is one of the largest providers of building materials in the region. The firm's new manufacturing facility will produce custom handcrafted stairs, moldings, columns, railings, windows and doors, and other millwork products.

"This is an exciting time for the Dartmouth Building Supply team," said President Joseph Delgado. "This new facility will double our production space, and open on the twentieth anniversary of our founding. This truly is an exceptional experience, and I'd like to thank MassDevelopment for putting this financing package together."

MassDevelopment, the state's finance and development authority, partners with businesses and local officials to stimulate growth across the Commonwealth. In fiscal year 2004, the agency arranged financing for or managed 201 projects statewide totaling more than $1.25 billion. These projects supported the creation of more than 5,500 jobs and 2,445 housing starts.
