Legal Department Intern

MassDevelopment is currently seeking a Legal intern (May 2019 - August 2019) to perform legal research on variety of issues including bonds, securities, land use and permitting, real property, open meeting and public records laws, and more. The Intern will also be responsible for drafting memoranda, contracts, leases, votes by the MassDevelopment Board of Directors, and other documents under the supervision of the attorneys and General Counsel of the Agency. The Intern will have an opportunity to attend Board of Directors and committee meetings, court hearings, and other public meetings with MassDevelopment attorneys and/or staff.


  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred), and enrolled in law school.
  • Must have excellent research skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to operate office equipment.
  • Occasional reaching above shoulder heights or below waist.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds as required to retrieve files and archive boxes.
