Job Summary:

MassDevelopment is accepting applications for an Accounts Receivable Coordinator in our Finance and Accounting Department. This position will be a hybrid model, with a combination of remote work and in-office work located in Devens.  

The Accounts Receivable Coordinator is responsible for agency collections, daily cash deposits and postings, preparation of invoices, and month-end A/R reports. To be successful in this role, the person will manage their assigned portfolio with a strong emphasis on effective and timely communication with customers, customer assistance, dispute resolution, invoice auditing, adjustment processing, forecasting of collection, and other reporting as required.

Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible for the daily collection of all accounts receivable at the agency and for affiliated entities.
  • Maintain customer databases.
  • Contact customers for collection on delinquent accounts.
  • Work in conjunction with various departments to resolve collection issues.
  • Prepare adjustments, bad debt write-offs, refunds, or rebill accounts as needed.
  • Maintain accounts receivable past-due aging reports.  
  • Receive and post daily cash receipts and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly invoices to customers.
  • Coordinate monthly utility billing and collections with utility department.
  • Coordinate quarterly billing and collection of real estate taxes and Municipal Service Fees (MFS) for Devens.
  • Other duties may be assigned consistent with the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in accounting or finance, or related field.
  • 3 years of work experience in accounts receivable and credit and collections in a large organization.  
  • Combination of experience and education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and extreme accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of cash application procedures and how they tie into managing the accounts receivable portfolio.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Accurate word processing / data entry skills.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet applications, including Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or related field.
  • Experience working with municipalities or state government.
  • Knowledge of automated accounting and database management systems (UMS utility software, Vadar real estate tax software, Kelly & Ryan excise tax software) and Great Plains general ledger system or general ledger system equivalent.
  • Bilingual a plus.
