MassDevelopment is seeking a real estate services summer intern to assist with a number of projects related to the real estate services department’s programs. The intern’s primary duties will be conducting quantitative and qualitative research and analyses to assess the impact of the department’s prior work, including but not limited to the following agency programs: Real Estate Technical Assistance, the Site Readiness Fund, Commonwealth Places, and Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) Assistance. The intern will assist with developing a framework for project evaluation and a plan for collecting and documenting feedback from participating communities. The intern will also assist with special research projects to build out best practices and resources that MassDevelopment can offer to Massachusetts communities.
Additional duties and responsibilities may include:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and current enrollment in a Master’s Degree in urban planning, real estate, or a related field is required. Additional requirements include one to three years experience in research in a technical field and a minimum of seven months experience in community engagement. Graphic or web design skills are preferred.
Candidate must be self-directed, well-spoken, and comfortable engaging with community representatives by phone or in person. Candidate should have familiarity with urban planning and real estate development as well as a working understanding of basic economic development practices. Candidate should have strong written communication skills.
The real estate intern will report to real estate project managers in MassDevelopment’s Boston office. The primary location of this internship is MassDevelopment’s Boston office, and one to two days per month of travel outside of Boston is expected.
