193-197 Union Street, New Bedford

In early 2026, One Circle Co. will purchase the vacant Keystone lot at 193-197 Union Street in New Bedford from MassDevelopment as planned and begin construction of a new mixed-use building featuring 45 apartments and ground-floor commercial space.

In 2021, New Bedford Creative partnered with Tanisha Ferrer and a collective of other artists to create the temporary “Black Lives Matter” mural, which was installed along the fencing of the vacant site. We appreciate all of the artists who made this important installation possible. The Black Lives Matter mural represents a powerful expression of art, community, and social justice. 

Prior to construction, the creative team will remove this temporary mural for safekeeping and will return all of the letters to the individual artists who created them.
