Northeast Arc

Breaking Grounds, a café in downtown Peabody, is the source of growing independence for local adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. The Danvers-based agency Northeast Arc took over the space at 67 Main Street in Peabody in 2016 and created Breaking Grounds, a café that employs clients of the agency who have physical and intellectual challenges. The café offers employees the opportunity to work with others, make coffee drinks, and learn new work and life skills. The City of Peabody received a $6,800 MassDevelopment placemaking grant through the Transformative Development Initiative, which helped fund the outfitting of the café.
